Fams - talking mood...

Aston "Familyman" Barrett

Yeah, I had the great opportunity to meet with my favourite musicians and Brothers, the Wailers, whilst on tour in France - give thanks !!!

The Original Wailers that are still continuing their life-long mission of spreading Jah message of One Love now consist of : Aston "Familyman" Barrett, Earl "Wire" Lindo and Al Anderson.

It is still a great treat to hear them playing, as if the passing away of our Brother Bob Marley twenty years ago has not changed their way of playing, the only thing I can feel is admiration before these Brothers, they just never give in!

Backstage, during the soundcheck, we had the opportunity to talk for a long while, "Mystic Revelation of Rastafari" were playing the first part of the evening program and I had the "authorization" to take these pictures that you may enjoy below...

Familyman talked about the law-suit that the Wailers have started against the "Marley estate" explaining to me why they are doing this:

"Bob Marley never talked about himself as Bob Marley himself, I am well placed to know this, I was probably the closest person to him, as a band leader and arranger of tunes, he always talked about "Bob Marley and the Wailers", all records that are out now, are made by "Bob Marley and the Wailers" and not by Bob himself, Bob would never had admitted this to happen, it is too easy when a man has passed, you can put all kinds of rumours on him, he can't answer...but we know!"

Fams holding up the sleeve of "Jungle Dub"..

Fams proudly shows the sleeve of "Jungle Dub" *, telling me of the "Upsetters" and the time he and his brother, Carlton "Carlie" Barrett **, joined Bob and they recorded some tunes in "Studio One" - these were the "Talking Blues" days...

"These were the rebel days and they still go on..."

Fams getting into "fire" mood - RASTAFARI LIVE - Selassie I !!!

"We'll have to fight..." "...we're gonna fight!"

Familyman has especially asked me to express the situation in three chosen "parts of songs" from the original Bob Marley & the Wailers' repertoire :

  • - "We Africans will fight, we find it necessary, we know we shall win, we are confident in Jah Victory of Good over Evil..."
  • - "Get up, stand up, stand up for your right...,
Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight..."
  • - "So Jah Seh..."
